Remember Happy Days?
And, of course, The Fonz…
I remember Fonzie saying during one of the Happy Days episodes that he didn’t go out on dates on Friday or Saturday nights.
“Those are amateur nights!”
Rich and I used that phrase a lot while we were building houses. We did whatever we could do to NOT go to Home Depot or Lowe’s on the weekends because those were “Amateur Days”.
The aisles were full of wanna be weekend carpenters who didn’t have a clue what to buy, let alone how to use it. But, of course, they couldn’t admit it and had to act all macho in front of their significant others.
Because time was money, we did nearly ALL of our shopping during the normal Monday thru Friday workweek. Trips to those two stores took no more than a third of the time they would take on a weekend day…
We forgot to avoid two places yesterday and acted like amateurs:
- Shopping at Wal-Mart late on Friday afternoon.
- Dinner out asset Applebee’s on Friday night.
Gotta remember to stay away from behaving like amateurs on the wrong days and times…

Oops! Does Applebee’s offer call in and pick up? And I flunked at WalMart’s self checkout. Poor gal wore herself out coming to help me. :o)
Yes, I think they do order eat out options, but last night was one of those rare nights that we left Sophie in Homer. I really didn’t care how long we had to wait. 🙂 I didn’t have to share my dinner with Sophie…
Carol, I am glad to know it is not just me. I swear those machines see my coming and start laughing maniacally knowing how they will continually bug me about not bagging that item or some other thing. Kathy, Walmart is always nuts. I was surprised one night when going to pick up something for a last minute school project for the girls just before midnight and seeing how busy it was… then, I remembered payday started at midnight….:)
Giggles, good one, Joanne. I remember a friend who shopped when insomnia hit. She said that she was virtually the only non-mother in the store. Lots of mothers there with crying infants. Why didn’t I think of shopping in the middle of the night when Melissa was up for hours with colic? 🙂
Giggles. I never thought of that either.
Melissa didn’t sleep all night until she was nearly five. I should have multitask more at night. 🙂
