Sundays with Harry

Harry SmithI love Harry Smith’s voice almost as much as I like his stories.

His voice is soothing and feels like a homecoming.

His stories make a person smile.

What’s a better than that combination?

Here’s today’s story about a bookmobile in northern Idaho.

Long live books! Real books!

And long live Harry Smith. 🙂

  1. He is a cool guy. This from wikipedia: He is a cyclist and regularly commutes on a folding bike to the NBC studios in New York City and he also rides a “racing” road bicycle.

  2. Hmmm…. I wonder if he and Al Roker ever commute together on their bikes. 🙂

  3. Our local library is always jammed with people. There still have an important role to play in our lives. Definitely better than church.

His voice is great. I never would have guessed he was an avid biker – cool.

    1. My favorite library will always be the Downtown Reno Library on Center Street. So surreal with its pod-like islands and Amazonian-like plant life. I’ll bet you spent many hours there, too.

      1. That library is still my favorite. I loved the different levels and plants all over the place. I also remember the dreaded music recitals there… They would have gone so much better if I had actually practiced 😉

        1. I had forgotten about your recitals there.

The Reno Library is one in hundreds…

When I first went to the main Boise Library, I thought I was in the wrong building.

          If Reno was a 95 on a scale of 1 to 100, Boise was a 35.

  4. Dark. Dated. And depressing. The staff is great, and the selection is good. It just pales in comparison to Reno. 🙂

  5. Bummer. Our La Mesa Library was torn down years ago and moved to an interim spot with the promise of being moved to a much larger location after the new fire station and police department were built. Surprise, surprise, the city is failing to honor its commitment to the county. The library is newer than the old one, not dark, or depressing, but it is way too small for the number of users. sigh. It has great programs for kids including after hours lock ins for tween and teens with program themes such as “Hobbit” or “Dr. Who”.
