Over the last two days, Carol and I have gone grocery shopping in two different stores: Winco and Sprouts.
We had never been to Sprouts Farmers Market. Mona, our RV back yard neighbor, recommended it. Other than Mona’s recommendation, we knew nothing about it.
Think a hybrid cross between Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. Prices ranged between both of those stores as well.
I did buy a couple of things including aromatherapy shower tablets
and bath bomb cupcakes.
It’s a fun store to visit and shop for fun gifts, but I won’t be shopping for food there.
My favorite place to grocery shop by far is Winco. There’s no place like Winco!
Both Sprouts and Winco have bulk foods which I like to buy, and they carry many of the same items. But the prices at Winco are at least half those of Sprouts.
I love buying in bulk. Sometimes I only want a quarter cup of Jordan Almonds. And I feel so much better than buying a whole 12 ounce bag and polishing them all off… 🙂

I was shopping at Winco yesterday and thought to myself; this is such a cool store. I was so hungry; yea I know its a bad time to shop, but they had so many healthy choices to choose from from their refrigeration bins. I bought, on reduced price, a small plastic container of skinless chicken. I also bought a house salad and salad dressing that is 80 calories for 2 Tsb. After shopping I ate the salad in my car and thought of all the calories I saved from not eating at McDonalds. They have remolded Winco since the last time I was there. Very nice layout and Winco is my favorite place to shop also!
But, JP and I went to Whole Foods the other day just to check it out. Oh my, what a delightful surprise! I swear they only hire people who are always smiling and say hello or how is your day? I feel like I could work there! We had a wonderful pulled pork sandwich made for us and took it upstairs to enjoy some football on TV and have a cold beer. What fun we had at an upscale grocery store. It was like a date as it was a very unusual thing for us to do. I think we will be going back for more dates. Oh yea, the pulled pork sandwich was so great I bought my first slow cooker on Amazon and when I shopped at Winco I got a pork shoulder to put in my new cooker. Who would believe how fun grocery shopping could be. I love this blog!
Sorry, I am hogging all the room on your site. But, Kathy, ever since I have seen many kids put their little hands in the bins and eat something, I only buy the bulk up on the top where the little children can’t reach. I love this blog.
Lorraine, you crack me up. 🙂 I actually have never seen a kid reach into the bin, and come to think of it I mostly buy from the bins in the back row. So hopefully I’m not getting to many cooties. 🙂
Oh Kathy, kids have tippy toes you know. I only buy from above now.
